You can't go against 4 bandits while wearing just a leather armor. What I like about them is that unlike Bethesda Fallout, you are extremely weak at the beginning. You have to plan your build a bit before starting and they are significantly more difficult, but when you get the hang of them they are extremely rewarding. I haven't played the other two, but I think the general consensus is that the 1st is the worst, 2nd is the best, 3rd is good.įallout 1 and 2 (altough I didn't start it yet) are not at all like 3 and 4. The cyberpunk setting isn't my favorite, but I really enjoyed playing through this game, and you can generally get it for 3 bucks or less. The story and characters are smart and interesting as well.
It has X-Com style turn based combat with a unique setting and a pretty solid rules-system. I did not see the Shadowrun games listed, so I'll recommend just the one I played: I think someone also mentioned Mount&Blade Warband - this one is also very very fun in the game-play department with a good mix of action and strategy. If the creator made a version of it for the mobile market, I don't know if there would be a reason to play anything else. It's like a grown-up turn based hardcore Diablo 2 with tile graphics. ToME has excellent strategic gameplay that really feels different depending on the class/build you go with and the items you find. Basically, if you pay for it you get storage and some other perks, and there are expansions that add stories, classes, etc. Tales of Maj'Eyal has tons of love and polish in it, and it is free/ dirt cheap.
